Buddy Rich with Animal DVD

There are several DVDs with footage of Buddy Rich playing. Which Buddy Rich DVD contains footage of Buddy and Animal playing on the Muppet Show? Is this footage on "The Buddy Rich Collector's Edition" DVD? Thank you for your help.

I have the DVD of that whole segment of the show with Buddy. It is absolutely classic Buddy. The scene opens with Buddy talking to some of the Muppets off stage and starts playing everything from the bricks to some of the muppets heads. Funny stuff!!

Then the whole solo thing. It actually seemed like the guy that does the drumming for Animal was hogging up Buddy's space a little bit. You see this look on Buddy for a second like, "Hey!! I'm the drum star here??". "Lay down and let the master play." I'll look at my collection and find out which DVD it is exactly.

Hey, guy..... I am pretty sure the Muppet segment is on the old DCI video 'Buddy Rich: Jazz Legend" Part TWO.....

Drumskull, I am 99% sure you are right. (I've got that tape, but haven't watched it in a few years.)

It's not the entire performance, but you get to see some good highlights of Buddy dueling with Animal and also some clips of Buddy on the show but away from his drums.

And when I use the word "highlight," I mean "highlight," not the virgildonati.com interpretation which is more like "snippet." [img]wink.gif[/img]

"Ronnie followed Bobby Midgley, Jock Cummings, Ronnie Stephenson and others into the ATV television orchestra of Jack Parnell, during which period he was very much in demand in the London studios. He was featured in a sketch in The Muppets television puppet show, playing the part of Animal in a fierce drum battle with Buddy Rich, which Animal, of course, won, eventually smashing a snare drum over Buddy's head."

I ordered a copy of the "Buddy Rich: Jazz Legend 1917-1987" DVD and it arrived today. It does indeed contain the segment with Buddy Rich playing with Animal in part 2 of the DVD. Thanks again for all of the helpful information.
